The 2011 APIA Spoken Word & Poetry Summit, Twin Cities is proud to announce the involvement of four first generation artists:

  • Brenda Wong Aoki: “I am honored to be considered a “first generation” API writer and look forward to the energy and passion of all the young writers at this summit.”
  • Joe Kadi: “I’m excited to learn from creative people and to connect in meaningful ways with artists and activists. This Summit provides us with such a wonderful opportunity!”
  • David Mura: “For me the Summit brings together so many elements I feel passionately about–spoken word/poetry, community, justice, inter-generational dialogues and of course Asian Americans. It’s so important that Asian American artists connect with and inspire each other. I’m excited about the exchanges and dialogues the conference will foster. I’m also proud of the thriving Asian American arts scene here; there’s groundbreaking work being done here and people should know about it.”
  • Lawson Fusao Inada: “I look forward to the expedition that will scale Mt. Minneapolis to the very Summit.  But who will plant which flag?  And where to go from there?”
