Save the date, Asian Pacific Day at the Capitol will take place on March 19, 2012.
This year the steering committee would like to focus on education policy and issues. The committee is hoping to get a consensus from the community about what educational topic is most important to everyone. The group is hoping Asian Americans from across the state will send ideas and feedback.

- Noon – Welcome address
- Afternoon – Legislative visits
In 2012, we’ll be focusing on education issues.
Did you know that more than half of low-income and English learning Asian students in Minnesota are not meeting the standards set by Minnesota educators?
In Minnesota, more than half of Asian students qualify for free or reduced price lunch, a proxy measure for low-income status. Almost half of Asian students receive English Learner services, an indicator of limited English proficiency.
We recognize that low-income and limited English status presents barriers for students and that state policies need to respond to support the success of every student in Minnesota.
