EHDI RFP, Jan 27th event to preview guidelines and to answer questions

23 Jan

Hello all,

Please forward this email to anyone that might be interested in seeking funding from Minnesota’s Eliminating Health Disparities Initiative (EHDI).

About EHDI: The purpose of the Eliminating Health Disparities Initiative is to close the gap in the health status of African Americans/Africans, American Indians, Asian Americans, and Hispanic/Latinos in Minnesota compared with whites in the following priority health areas: breast and cervical cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, healthy youth development, and violence and unintentional injuries, and by 2010, decrease by 50 percent the disparities in infant mortality rates and adult and child immunization. More info at http://www.health.state.mn.us/ommh/grants/ehdi/aboutehdi.html

In recognition of the need to explains rules and guidelines, the MN Dept. of Health will host an event to help those interested in applying for EHDI funding. The event is this Friday Jan. 27th. Registration is required and the deadline is Tue. Jan 24. See below for more info.

Greetings:

The Eliminating Health Disparities Initiative (EHDI) was established in 2001 by the Minnesota Legislature to address the health disparities between our state’s populations of color and American Indians and our White population in eight priority health areas.  Over 80 organizations and Tribal Nations have received EHDI support over the past ten years to improve the health status of our populations of color and American Indians.

A new EHDI Request for Proposals (RFP) will be released in early 2012.  The Minnesota Department of Health’s (MDH) Office of Minority and Multicultural Health is hosting a meeting to preview the guidelines and answer questions from potential applicants.  The new RFP will continue to meet the goals of the EHDI and align with the goals of other MDH programs, initiatives, and grants in support of the MDH’s department-wide goal of “eliminating health disparities and achieving health equity.”

Attached is a listing of the eight EHDI priority health areas and a list of guidelines for the 2012 RFP.  Please come prepared to discuss the three questions we pose and to get clarification on the guidelines.  Please join us:
