In a partnership with The People’s Cook, the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans invites the community to a delicious event featuring food and culture from the Filipino community on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 7pm-9pm at Regla de Oro Gallery located on 3007 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis.
The People’s Cook, Mero Cocinero Karimi, has made a name for himself in Minnesota as the resident artist at Intermedia Arts for the past two years. Using his Open Kitchen model, he has helped to connect communities through the revolutionary act of sharing and feeding one another our culture, food, and stories.
This month, Mero Cocinero Karimi is teaming up with CAPM for Open Kitchen, Turo-Turo Style!
It’s the final Open Kitchen of 2012, as the People’s Cook take a break for the winter. The evening’s theme: Turo-Turo Style, which literally translates from Tagalog to English to Point-point. It’s all about choosing what you want to eat. Bring a dish from your culture that people will want to point to and eat. There will be a Lumpia contest so bring your Lumpia or egg rolls and challenge Mero Cocinero Karimi! Special guests will entertain guests as we all celebrate the end of the year and discuss how to make the holidays personally nourishing. This event is free. Seating is limited. Early arrival is recommended. Please RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/Open-Kitchen/events/94489842/
